TPACK and Learning Landscape Video
In this video the students are collecting data for a wetlands project in their community. This is a very hands-on learning approach. I would say that this is a great example of TPACK. After watching the TPACK video I learned a lot about how integrating technology is being creative and whole. I have heard of TPACK before but this video did a great job explaining it. The students in the video can only do the learning with the computers and measurement tools provided. In a way it is like the lesson started as a TPK. The teachers had a great teaching approach and the technology. I wonder if it really fits with the content standards for that state. I was very impressed and motivated to teach after seeing the landscape video. The TPACK video I would like to share with my staff, because it was entertaining and informative.

That did look like a really fun way to spend class time! I liked how the teachers were so enthusiastic too.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It shows true learning. This is complete student engagement. As I walked through the school today where I am teaching summer school, I observed direct instruction at it's simplest form - teachers giving information. Obviously, students are not learning. Engagement is the the best teaching practice. I wonder why so many teachers continue dictating. I didn't learn this 25 years ago in college and I'm sure they did not as well. PCK, TCK and TPK is very limited in our district with teaching and learning. Why? I wonder it just takes more effort to become a creative educator.
